He was soooo good, but apparently he struggled with the temptation FAR too long. I tried playing with him every night to tire him out, but as soon as I got comfey, I'd hear clanking and jingeling.
Therefore, tonight I will begin taking down my Christmas decotrations. If I do not, I fear this is what I will be coming home to.

I cannot count how many times I yelled at him, squirted water at him and plucked him out of the tree last night. Then he turned into a sneaky littke squirt and would climb out of the tree when he heard me coming to get him... only to meet with me with a innocent look on his face as to say "what? I wasn't doing anything!!!"
The litle creap!
I am going to do it in phases, begining with the ornaments and garland around my windows tonight. I bought a new wreath holder so that I can curl up the garland nicely. This will hopefully free up a larger container that I can use for other forms of CRAP in my apartment.
...Speaking of ornaments... I bought some fun red and white bulbs at Target for 50% off. They remind me of pepermint swirl candies! I also bought wrapping papper for next year. On my way home I will stop by Jo Anne's and check out what they have remaining. They had some great stuff only a week ago on 60% off - maybe there will still be things but for even less!

I've been productive today!
My apartment is pseudo-clean. I straightened up so that this place would be acceptable when Sarah and Julia came over. I cooked us some lunch and we hung out a bit. After they left I took an unexpected nap, only to find myself WIDE awake at 7pm and knowing that I would not be going to bed for a long time.
I pulled out my scrapbooking stuff and did GOOD! I finished Papillion's kitten book (I did 15 pages!!!). The end got difficult because I ran out of pages - but I figured that any pics left over that I really wanted to scrap can go inside my generic 2008 book (when I get around to making it.)
Afterwards I had every intention of going to bed... but that didn't quite happen. I ended up working on a better organizational method for all my scrapbooking crap. I set up one container for all my tools and adhesives. A separate container would hold accessories for my current project, and all the oher crap is all mashed together in a few places. I never said it was ALL organized! lol But at elast this will work for my next project.... Italy.
Yep. Time for my Italy book. I figure if I can keep organized about it, I should be able to work on it a little every week. I decided to put it in a Creative Memories book, since I'll be able to add lots of nice pages to it.
Before I start the book, I do have to go through one last pile of crap. So depending on how shopping goes with Mom on Sunday, I may be able to hammer that out and get my self in order to work on it soon.
I also need to get my printer / scanner hooked up. I'd like to scan Papillion's kitten book so that you all can see it - my camera just won't do it justice.
So that was my night in a nutshell.... 4 hours of heads-down scrapping and 15 pages complete! Not bad, eh?

Michele 1: Papillion 9,482
I won. I finally won.
Each morning I have no idea what to expect. Sometimes Papillion is gentile and wakes me up late with a simple touch on the back. A couple of times its been kisses... other times are not so gentile. I've been pounced on my chest. This morning he crawled under the blankets and attacked my feet.
When the kitten wants to get up, there is no stopping him. In addition, when he is up, I am not allowed to stay asleep. I am pounced on, bit, tortured by the sounds of random crashing, bags crumpling, toys being batted all over my bedroom...
Shutting him out of my bedroom is not an option. He sits immediately outside the door and scratches and meows until I cave in.
All of this leads to a *very* grumpy Michele in the morning. I just want to get up on my OWN terms - not the kittens. These games usually go on for at least an hour, until I finally give in and get up for the morning.
Until today. I found an option. I shooed him out of my bedroom, shut the door and put earplugs in. I was still able to hear the noises he made, but they were muffled to an acceptable volume and I was able to go back to sleep.
Going forward this will be my plan. Hopefully after a few days of this he will get the idea and learn that I will not give in and my sleep time is MY sleep time.

Nut case.
That is how I like to describe my kitten. He really is a nutcase. He has learned a new trick, and he’s done it two nights in a row now.
Since he is relatively calmer during the evening, I hardly have to close the door and lock him out of my bedroom door. He usually plays for a little then settles in on a pillow by my head.
WELL…
While he plays around, before he settles in for the night… he’s been playing at the foot of my bed and digging around at my covers. He figured out how to pull himself up onto the bed, but UNDER the covers. He then shimmies along my side all the way from the bottom of the bed, by my feet… up to the top, by my head. Can I say how hard it is to not giggle when this little furball is crawling up along me? Especially as I am trying to fall asleep.
No wonder I have such a hard time falling asleep!

My kitten was such the good boy yesterday! I was so proud of him, again! He was a trooper when I left him at the vet. It was *much* harder on me then it was him. I received a phone call around noon letting me know that he was in recovery and did just fine.
When I picked him up I met with the vet for outpatient instructions before seeing him. They told me no heavy activity for the next week or so. That means no back-flips while giving for toys. Needless to say I hid all his toys as soon as we got home. I also was instructed to pay attention to his behavior and to check his wounds daily.
I then headed to the counter to pay for his services. After the payment was made, my little guy was brought out. He was already in his carrier (probably had been in there most of the day) and looked all scruffed out. His hair was messed up, his eyes were glazed and he seemed to be distracted and completely oblivious to that fact that I was talking to him. I figured he was probably still feeling the effects of the anesthesia, medications or whatever else that may have been in his system. He also looked like he had been sleeping for days.
After a couple of minutes we were in my Jeep and heading home. That is where the Papillion I know and love came out! It took one street before he starting mewing. He still mews. He has not progressed into a full “meow” yet. Most of the ride home he talked, and I talked back to him. He started rolling around and showing some belly-love.
Once we got home I immediately let him out and he was happy to be out of the carrier. Within minutes he was his usual self – but with me chasing behind him frantically… trying to reduce his jumping, putting down soft blankets for him to nap on. He wanted none of that. He wanted food and to play. I gave him food a couple pieces at a time since the vet told me to be cautious of nausea.
He had NO interest in laying down. He wanted to play and run around. I let him be active a bit, but I did not encourage it and tried to get him to lay down and relax as much as possible. I didn’t want him to pop an artery!
I noticed that when he stretched to scratch, he was pawing everything and not digging his nails in. I took a closer look and noticed that his nails were clipped. Mental note – we are going to start scheduling in some regular clippings! He was SO gentile all evening. This leads me to believe he was merely being clumsy with long claws the past few weeks and NOT trying to be an evil terror!
Anyway, he finally calmed down and napped. Once he relaxed, he was mellow for the rest of the night. He slept calmly and peacefully on a decorative pillow right by my bed – his new night-time sleeping spot.

He was such a good boy!!!! He went into the carrier without any issues. He sat nicely in there with few meows. When I talked with him, to tell him that it was going to be all right, he rolled over and showed me some belly love. He even started purring while in the carrier.
When we went into the office he was happy, tail in the ear. He let both the vet tech and the vet pick him up, hold him, play with him. He even was cuddly with them. We now weights 6.2 pounds – he was less then three pounds when I brought him home!
No squirming when he got his vaccinations nor when they drew blood. He was SUCH the good trooper. The only thing he did not like was the ear cleaning… my little guy has ear mites. They took samples; I saw them under the microscope (eww! Gross swimming monsters with fangs!!!!) They gave him a mite treatment, rubbed it in good and let him shake, shake, SHAKE until globs were flying out. It was quite gross.
After his clean bill of health we talked about getting Papillion fixed and another mite treatment in two weeks. My guy is going to loose his fuzzy little testes.Tuesday, July 29, 2008
I find it hard to believe just how fast this kitty is growing up. He no longer fits easily into one hand. He no longer has that baby-kitten face. He is an adolescent. He is now jumping higher then ever and getting into more and more mischief. He is starting to knock things over and I know that the apartment is becoming less and less kitty-proof every day. At one point I thought I would be able to keep my bedroom door open while I was at work, now I am not so sure this will be the case. He is in a jumping higher and higher phase.

Ewww...
Papillion fell asleep with one eye partially open. I need to wake him so that he closes it. Seeing him twitch as he is dreaming, with one eye partially open is a CREEPY sight!!!
